Christmas Collection 4: Lauridsen's O Magnum Mysterium

Today, we bring you one of the most beloved choral works of recent years, by the West Coast composer Morten Lauridsen. Ancient European legend holds that farm animals gain the power of speech at midnight on Christmas Eve, recalling that magical moment some two thousand years ago. O great mystery and marvelous sacrament, that the animals should see the newborn Lord lying in a manger.

Morten Lauridsen: O Magnum Mysterium*
With introduction from the music director
* Conducted by Tony Bellomy, associate conductor

Recorded live at Grace Church in New York

Each installment will premiere on our YouTube channel at 8:00AM on the appointed date, and will be available for viewing any time thereafter. We look forward to the day when we can all once again share the joy of choral music in person!
